Al-Salama Hospital, affiliated with the Gharbia Cancer Society is the first and largest hospital specializing in the treatment of all types of Cancer, post-treatment rehabilitation, social assistance and Medical Education in Tanta, Egypt.

Statistics from the last year 2024

our centre received and treated 3,700 (three thousand seven hundred) new cancer patients including surgeries, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and nuclear medicine cases.
More than 55,000 (fifty-five thousand) patients visited the hospital over the last year.

About us

Gharbia Cancer Society is a charity, non-profit non-governmental organization, located in Tanta city the capital of Gharbia governorate. The society was announced 1966. The main target at that time was to give social and financial support to cancer patients and their families. It was a leading step in the area.

Members of the society are oncologists from Gharbia, community representatives, and local social leaders.The activities of the society are run through an executive committee composed of Three oncologists, University professor, Lawyer, and businesswoman who are interested in cancer control and social activities.

On 1985, the necessity for introducing a modern radiation therapy services in the area, was behind the effort for starting a campaign for charity support to finance radiation therapy department. The government at that time, had provided an area of 418 m² to start a new building for the society, it was exclusively built by public fund raising. Although this available land is a limited area, we designed the building to contain all the necessary equipment for the cancer patients care in the area. With time other services were introduced like chemotherapy radioactive iodine and surgery. These services are free of charge and state funded. On 2011, The Gharbia Cancer Society has started its palliative care services.
